An extensive set of studies has been performed on using the mines in Brevik as a waste disposal site for gas-free, stable and dried gypsum residue.
Their conclusions are all that this new solution will be safe, with little risk of discharges and accidents.

How NOAH processes the waste

NOAH’s process neutralises acids with ash and other alkaline waste. A chemical process is used to turn this into gypsum residue, which does not pose any risk to the surrounding environment.

Norway’s international obligations

Through international agreements, Norway is obliged to handle its own waste. A single waste market has been set up to cover the Nordic region.
